Lead Electrical Engineer

An international Engineering firm, in the Electrical Engineering space, delivering design and project delivery services to the Mining, Utilities, Materials Handling and Industrial sectors with extensive and proven capabilities around the world., is currently looking for Lead and Senior Electrical Engineers to work with their Commissioning crews on a range of minerals and metals projects in Canada.

In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive mineral processing plant electrical design experience to lead multidisciplinary teams through complex projects involving gold, copper, zinc, nickel, aluminium, lithium, iron ore, coal, and rare earths processing facilities. Your proven engineering management and leadership in mining projects will be essential as you coordinate project delivery, mentor technical staff, and drive quality assurance and control across all design phases.

Your technical leadership capability and stakeholder relationship management skills will ensure seamless collaboration with clients, contractors, and internal teams, while your project coordination expertise keeps deliverables on track and within scope.

About the role

- Lead the electrical engineering design and delivery for mineral processing plants across gold, copper, zinc, nickel, aluminium, lithium, iron ore, coal and rare earth projects.

- Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing technical leadership and guidance throughout project lifecycles.

- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions for mining and mineral processing facilities.

- Oversee the development of electrical systems including power distribution, motor control centres, switchgear and instrumentation.

- Review and approve electrical design documentation, calculations, specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with standards.

- Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver engineering solutions on time and within budget.

- Conduct quality assurance reviews and technical audits to maintain high engineering standards across all deliverables.

- Support business development activities by contributing technical expertise to proposals and client presentations.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior engineers to build technical capability within the team.

About you

- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical discipline or equivalent qualification recognised in Canada.

- Extensive experience in electrical design for mineral processing plants, particularly gold, copper, zinc, nickel, aluminium, lithium, iron ore, coal, and rare earths projects.

- Proven track record in leading electrical engineering teams and managing complex mining projects from design through to construction.

- Strong technical expertise in power systems, electrical controls, and high voltage/low voltage electrical plant design for mining and resources sector.

- Experience in the Canadian mining market or willingness to quickly adapt to Canadian engineering standards and practices.

- Exceptional project coordination skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders, budgets, and timelines effectively.

- Strong quality assurance mindset with commitment to delivering engineering solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management skills, capable of liaising with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

- Technical leadership capability with mentoring experience to develop junior engineers and foster collaborative team environments.

- Experience in construction management and site supervision for mining plant installations is highly valued.

- Familiarity with heavy industrial plants, cement, chemicals, pulp and paper, or steel industries is considered an asset.

- Speaking French is highly regarded
