Maintenance Technician – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

Mountain West Waterworks is seeking a Journeyman Plumber to support the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure across the communities we serve. This role is well-suited for someone with hands-on plumbing and mechanical experience who is ready to expand their skills in utility infrastructure. Drinking water or wastewater licensure is not required, but experience in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems is important.
This position works closely with licensed operators and senior technicians and offers clear opportunities for growth and specialization.
· Perform and assist with maintenance and repairs on industrial plumbing and wastewater infrastructure
· Work with pumps, valves, piping, and related mechanical components
· Assist with installation, adjustment, and maintenance of pressure reducing valves (PRVs)
· Troubleshoot basic electrical components related to pumps and controls
· Conduct system inspections and support preventative maintenance activities
· Respond to maintenance needs and assist with emergency repairs as required
· Follow safety protocols, documentation standards, and company procedures
· Coordinate with field staff to support system operations
· Hands-on experience in mechanical, plumbing, industrial maintenance, or a related trade
· Comfortable using hand and power tools in field environments
· Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with guidance
· Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently or as part of a team
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
· Ability to obtain Backflow Assembly Testing Licensure within 1 year
· Prior work in utilities, irrigation, industrial facilities, or public works
· Drinking water or wastewater operator licensure, or interest in pursuing licensure
All new hires begin with a 90-day probationary period. During this time, performance, reliability, safety practices, and overall fit with the team will be evaluated. This period allows both the employee and Mountain West Waterworks to ensure the role is a good long-term match and to establish clear expectations for success moving forward.
