Journeyman Electrician

Position Overview:

HM Cragg is an 100% employee-owned company with an extremely impressive growth history. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair projects of electrical systems and components specifically focused on the Telecommunications, Wireless, Utility and UPS markets.

Reporting Relationship: The Journeyman Electrician will report to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

- Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for buildinggrounds

- Perform the installation of transformers, control boards, electronic circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, and related electrical equipment

- Perform installations of backup generator systems

- Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing electrical systems

- Read electrical blueprints, plans, and schematics.

- Develops strong line of communication with Electrical Manager/Master Electrician and within all departments utilizing electrical service

- Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints, and/or verbal instructions

- Proficient in the use of standard electrician's tools and measuring/testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter

- Perform other duties and assignments as necessary

Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge

- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and commercial/industrial electrical best practices, switchgearcontrol, and UPS industries

- Strong knowledge of generators, transfer switches, and distribution equipment

- Knowledge of electrical principles, applications, techniques, procedures, code, and equipment

- Knowledge of local and national electrical code

- Demonstrates proper use of material handling equipment

- Proactively stays up to date on safety training, compliance, and knowledge of HAZ MAT and DOT requirements

- Adheres to company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and Safety Policy

Travel Expectations:

- Weekly travel up to 75% depending on customer needs

- Generally home every weekend

Posting Qualifications:

- Licensed or the ability to be licensed in: IA, MN, ND, SD, WI, NE

- Ability to work at various heights

- Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) repetitively on a regular basis

- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license

- Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening
