Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Position Overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a student to join our Rainy River Team for a 8-month work term commencing in April 2026. Reporting to the Industrial Hygienist, the Industrial Hygiene Co-op will play a key role in the Industrial Hygiene monitoring across departments.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Performing exposure assessment interviews and observations;

- Conducting exposure monitoring (including, but not limited to silica, diesel particulate, noise, heat and vapours);

- Analyzing monitoring data and developing reports;

- Leading the annual site-wide hazardous materials inventory review;

- Delivering Industrial Hygiene related training;

- Performing qualitative risk assessments;

- Assisting and providing coverage for the Industrial Hygienist, when needed.

Qualifications

- The qualified candidate will currently be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Health and Safety Related program;

- Preference will go to someone with a minimum of one year experience in a health, safety or environment role within mining or other heavy industry;

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $ 55,000.00 -$74,000.00.
