Industrial Designer / Sheet Metal Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Industrial Designer / Sheet Metal Engineer to join our creative team. This role combines the art of product design with the technical expertise of sheet metal engineering, enabling the development of functional, aesthetically appealing, and manufacturable products. You will play a pivotal role in transforming concepts into tangible solutions by leveraging your skills in digital design, mechanical knowledge, and fabrication processes. Your contributions will directly influence the creation of cutting-edge designs across various industries, from furniture to packaging and beyond.

Responsibilities

- Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks, to ensure precise manufacturing specifications.

- Create compelling visualizations and renderings with tools like KeyShot, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Maya to communicate design intent effectively.

- Conduct design research and apply design thinking principles to generate innovative solutions that meet user needs and project goals.

- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, fabricators, and manufacturing specialists to optimize designs for production feasibility and cost efficiency.

- Design sheet metal components considering mechanical properties, fabrication techniques, and material selection to ensure durability and manufacturability.

- Utilize digital design tools for prototyping, product development, and packaging solutions that align with brand identity and user experience.

- Support fabrication processes by providing detailed specifications for manufacturing, assembly instructions, and quality control standards.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in industrial design with a strong portfolio showcasing furniture design, product development, or related fields.

- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Nesting software for CNC laser cutting or similar platforms.

- Skilled in graphic design tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for visual communication.

- Knowledge of mechanical design principles relevant to sheet metal fabrication and mechanical systems integration.

- Familiarity with digital design workflows including KeyShot for rendering and Adobe Photoshop for image editing.

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, packaging production, and material selection.

- Ability to conduct design research and apply human-centered design thinking methodologies to create innovative solutions.

- Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas clearly across teams and clients.
