Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac des Iles Mine, located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. In operation for 30+ years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known pure palladium sources in North America. Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use being in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas-powered and hybrid vehicles.
The LDI Mine features a unique ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations. The LDI Mine is in Robinson-Superior Treaty territory, and the land on which we operate is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg and the Métis. Impala Canada actively partners with local organizations, programs and events focused on healthcare, education and community development to help enhance the quality of life for all.
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Superintendent, the successful candidate will work a 7 day on/7 day off rotation at the Lac des Iles mine site.
Supporting the recruitment & selection process through performing functions such as drafting and posting job ads; maintaining applicant inventory; screening applications; scheduling interviews; arranging medicals, criminal records checks; conducting reference checks and coordinating travel for candidate site visits.
Supporting the new employee on-boarding process through the distribution of hire on packages, completion of payroll and benefit enrollment forms and coverall sizing/changes.
Promote positive employee relations and assist with responsibilities such as updating company policies and responding to employee inquiries in a timely manner
Assist the H.R. department in the development, implementation and administration of new programs.
Tracking and reconciling staff annual vacation and annual performance reviews
Responding to employee inquiries regarding pay and benefits.
Maintaining Human Resources Department records and organizational charts
Experience with labor relations would be an asset
Providing support to the Human Resources Team members
Proficiency in computers utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, HRIS, email and internet
Experience within the Mining or Manufacturing industry would be an asset
