Description: Position Summary

The Human Resource Generalist will manage the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including several critical human resources functions and workforce management, including recruiting support, health and safety, compensation, benefits administration, training and development, employee engagement, leave and attendance tracking, payroll, employee records and Employee Management Systems and enforcing company policies and practices.

This position is based in Bay St. Louis, MS.


Responsibilities:

Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance.
Collaborates with Talent Acquisition to streamline and enhance onboarding experience.
Coordinates with staff to process and maintain employment, attendance and other records.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Assists employees with filing Disability and FMLA claims.
Serve as a Payroll backup, ensuring all system changes during the pay cycle—including hires, terminations, rate changes, and benefit elections—are accurately reflected in the reconciliation spreadsheet and documentation. Provide support during payroll processing as needed.
Manage accounts payable processes for HR-related expenses, including preparing, coding, and approving invoices for insurance, claims, and fuel cards.
Administer the fuel card program by handling account additions, terminations, Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs), and resolving theft or misuse issues.
Oversee incoming HR correspondence, ensuring timely response and appropriate distribution.
Support managers in the performance review process by tracking progress, ensuring adherence to timelines, and providing guidance as needed.
Maintain compliance with federal and state reporting requirements, including EEO-1 filings, RX reporting, and Medicare Creditable Coverage notices; assist auditors with 401(k) audits.
Coordinate employee offboarding processes, ensuring system updates, distribution of required notices, and communication with internal departments and state agencies.
Provide post-termination support to former employees by addressing questions and facilitating a professional transition.
Partner with the COBRA administrator to manage coverage reinstatement for employees who elect COBRA.


Required Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or equivalent experience.
At least five years of human resource management experience preferred.
Proficiency in using human resources information systems (HRIS) and other employee management systems.
SHRM-CP a plus.

Intrapersonal Skills: Outgoing personality. Organized. Detail oriented. Must be able to professionally handle all types of sensitive and confidential information.
Technical Experience: Working knowledge of Word and Excel/ spreadsheets. Quick learner on any type of technology.


Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role will work in an office setting, however frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards and engage in staff.

Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
