We are excited to be recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist to join the team in our Homer, Alaska office. The Human Resources Generalist will be a key partner in providing incredible service for the potential and current employees of Homer Electric Association. This position truly touches every aspect of Human Resources (HR) including recruitment, benefits, reporting, payroll, and training. This will be an on-site, salary position and will be based in the Homer, Alaska - HEA office location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Prepares recruitments, solicits applicants, and coordinates interviews for Cooperative openings. Which may include coordinating travel arrangements for candidates.
•Administers HEA benefits plans, assisting employees with enrollment, questions, payments and beneficiaries.
•Assists employees with updating documents and changes. Supplies payroll with applicable information in a timely manner.
•Oversees the performance administration program and associated tasks.
•Maintains personnel records, licensing and certification status' and notifying employees when updated documentation is required.
•Maintains monthly personnel lists and notifies interested parties of employee changes as needed.
•Collects data and prepared annual compliance filing.
•May assist with workers compensation, FMLA and other regulatory heavy requirements requiring both sensitivity and compliance.
EDUCATION, LICENSE & EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with an HR focus.
•Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience supporting human resources administration required.
•Knowledge of State and Federal employment regulations is required.
•SHRM or HRCI certification highly preferred.
•In lieu of the degree requirement, an associate degree in Business Administration and an additional four years of experience may replace the bachelor's degree requirement.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•Ability to coordinate with outside agencies, internal employees and management staff with the utmost confidentiality.
•Ability to operate computer with high proficiency as required for word processing, presentations, spreadsheet programs, and photo editing software.
•Must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills to be able to prioritize work and manage multiple projects.
