Position Summary:
The HR & Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting both the Human Resources and Safety departments. This dual-function position ensures that hiring practices, employee relations, and safety compliance are handled efficiently and professionally. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Support:
•Assist with new hire onboarding, including processing employment paperwork, background checks, and drug screens.
•Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws.
•Support the HR Director with employee relations tasks and HR communications.
•Prepare reports, employee data, and documentation as needed.
•Handle new hire reporting (IN/TN/IL) and benefits enrollment processes.
•Maintain employee directories and update internal systems.
•Assist in any and all other HR/Safety Related requests
Safety Support:
•Schedule and coordinate safety orientations & training for new hires.
•Help organize and conduct regular safety inspections (goal: 2 per month).
•Track and manage MVR's and insurance documentation for drivers.
•Schedule DOT physicals and pre-employment/post-accident drug testing.
•Support the Safety Director in incident tracking, investigations, and compliance reporting.
•Assist with safety training coordination, including CPR/AED and toolbox talks.
•Maintain records of safety certifications and compliance documents.
Qualifications:
•Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Safety, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
•1–3 years of experience in HR, safety, or administrative support roles.
•Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, MSHA and employment regulations is a plus.
•Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Work Environment:
•Office setting with periodic site visits to field locations.
•Occasional travel may be required.
•Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs if needed
Salary Range $42,500 - $50,000
This position will be based out of Washington, IN. Office hours are 8 am - 4 pm, Monday thru Friday.
