Job Summary
The Safety & HR Manager will play a key role in fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes both safety and employee development. This dual-focused position involves designing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure compliance and well-being, while also driving human resource initiatives that support hiring, training, and staff development. The ideal candidate will balance promoting a safe work environment with cultivating a culture of opportunity and growth for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management:
•Maintain and enhance the safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and APCA/EPA regulations
•Coordinate safety training and development for employees
•Manage workers’ compensation claims, ensuring appropriate return-to-work processes and timely resolution
•Conduct and/or coordinate accident investigations, sharing findings across locations to prevent recurrence
•Perform on-site safety audits and execute solutions
•Develop strategies to resolve health and safety issues effectively
•Foster a workplace culture committed to an injury- and illness-free environment
•Stay current on emerging safety trends, laws, and professional practices
Human Resources Responsibilities:
•Guide and support individuals and teams through challenges and transitions
•Support managers with employee relations and performance issues
•Learn and utilize the HRIS system to enhance HR operations
•Facilitate staff training, including monthly safety topics and leadership development
•Schedule and participate in interviews as appropriate
•Oversee pre-employment processes: including background checks and drug screens
•Manage onboarding and facilitate new employee orientation
Qualifications
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and safety roles preferred
•Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred
•Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations (willing to train)
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
•Proficiency in MS Office, Windows-based software, and Google Workspace
