Job Summary This position is responsible for employee health and safety and promoting safety awareness to minimize work-related injuries as well as ensuring adherence to company policies.
· Coordinates safety activities in all departments to ensure implementation throughout the organization.
· Administers accident and incident investigations including recommendations of corrective actions.
· Communicates/updates department management regarding work related injuries.
· Facilitates OSHA and Nippon Steel Pipe America required safety program annual audits and training.
· Assures OSHA/IOSHA reporting and compliance. Represents NSPA with Safety Manager in any interactions/visits from OSHA/IOSHA.
· Assists with coordination/completion of Industrial Hygiene Testing Needs.
· Assists with completion of risk assessment to identify deficiencies.
· Works with Production and Engineering department in order to address any deficiencies (machine guarding….).
· Facilitates projects with Maintenance in order to resolve safety related maintenance work orders.
· Trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
· Champions open and effective communications throughout the organization.
· Assists with creating annual Safety budget based on company needs and allotted funds; Monitors budget and completion of priority items.
· Completes Accident/Survey/Monthly Activity reports for NSC. Completes customer surveys – NSPA accident rates.
· Assists with creating annual safety plan and monitors/reports on completion.
· Creates and delivers safety information for general meetings/newsletter.
· Facilitates HR with associate appreciation events. Manages Safety Awards Programs.
· Leads Safety Committee audits/Safety daily audits. Leads ER Team – selection, training, supplies.
· Assists Emergency Commander – drills and actual events.
· Assists Special Activity Training – Crane Drills, Forklift Drills, Live Fire Extinguisher Training.
· Assists EPP Program - Performing/Monitoring Equipment Prove Out of New, Modified or Moved Equipment/Machines
· Directs Implementation/Revisions of Company Safety Programs to include developing Safety Methods and Procedures based on OSHA/IOSHA requirements and Company guidelines.
· Measures and Evaluates effectiveness of Safety Policies and makes needed modifications.
