Position Title: Safety Coordinator, Senior

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and leadership of safety programs to prevent accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses, and property damage. The incumbent works independently to enforce safety policies and regulatory compliance, conduct risk assessments, manage audits and investigations, and drive safety initiatives that align with Cooperative goals. Some locations include additional oversight such as contractor safety, LMS training assignments, or emergency response programs.
Essential Functions:
•Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and initiatives.
•Conduct inspections, audits, and accident investigations.
•Lead site safety committees and coordinate emergency response teams.
•Deliver and develop safety training and employee orientation programs.
•Maintain JSA documentation and provide safety recommendations to leadership.
•Support compliance programs for OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other agencies.
•Coordinate process safety management, risk management plans, and site security.
•Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and represent BEPC on Workers’ Compensation matters.
•Provide formal reports and recommendations to management.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field and 7 years of experience in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline; or
•High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 11 years of experience in safety, industrial hygiene, or related discipline.
•A valid driver’s license.
•Prior supervisory or lead safety experience, preferred.
•Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, CIH,), preferred.
•Experience with process safety, industrial hygiene, preferred.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office.
•Advanced knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
•Accident investigation and root cause analysis.
•Contractor safety oversight.
•Safety audits and program development.
•Emergency response coordination.
•Technical writing and training.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
•Experience developing and delivering training programs, including classroom and hands-on instruction.
•Able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, supervise others, develop plans, procedures, and goals, present information to others, and work under stress.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires constant sitting; occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, standing/walking, bending/reaching, and climbing. Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Occasional work at heights May require confined space entry, and use of safety tools.
