Heap Leach Supervisor

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Supervise and instruct the Heap Leach crew to perform in a cost-effective, safe, productive manner while protecting the environment and enhancing morale of others..

- Maintain close working relationship with the Mine Operations and Engineering on timing of ore deliveries, ripping requirements, reject placement, piping activities, etc.

- Manage and evaluate the job performance of the heap leach personnel concerning safety, production, operator training, and development.

- Review performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out disciplinary actions in conjunction with Human Resources as needed.

- Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.

- Work with Purchasing and Warehouse to ensure constant availability of heap leach parts, tools, equipment, and consumables.

- Monitor records concerning all facets of heap leach operations including safety meetings, attendance, training, vacations, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and accidents.

- Monitor work areas on an ongoing basis to assure safe and cost-efficient maintenance goals.

- Maintenance of a daily log for work assignments and accomplishments.

- Prevent needless expenditures and lost production by minimizing equipment downtime through properly executed preventative maintenance and repairs.

- Understand proper HDPE pipe and sheet fusion equipment and practice.

- Determine and maintain solution application rates, preg, and barren flows.

- Punctuality and regular attendance is required.

- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.

- Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.

- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.

- Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.

- Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.

- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications And Skill Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.

- A minimum of five years’ experience repairing and maintaining industrial equipment.

- Necessary technical ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems pertaining to heap leach.

- Previous crew mechanic experience.

- Strong working knowledge of ore processing operations.

- Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.

- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.

- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.

- May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
