GIS Data Technician I

The GIS Data Technician I assists with GIS related mapping, analysis and reporting. The major responsibility of the position will be creating and updating several pipeline development maps, updating data and maps to servers and websites, plotting maps and maintaining database information. Conduct verification of records. Comply with mapping-related code requirements and corporate Operating Procedures. Assist engineers and designers in creating and plotting construction design drawings. Prepare various maps, reports, and ad-hoc queries using tools including ArcGIS and MS-Office.

- Collect data from source materials, interpret, and enter the data into a relationship database.

- Perform as-built editing in the ArcGIS software’s ArcSDE database.

- Validates and verifies data integration into GIS, with report generation.

- Accountability to develop technical guidelines and work flow enhancements.

- Maintenance of centerline data for other mapping systems with support for GPS units and field.

Requirements

Qualifications

- Prefer 3+ years pipeline experience - Prefer 1+ years in the geospatial industry

- Experience with GPS equipment and associated software desired.

- Some ESRI ArcGIS or AutoCAD Experience

- Good understanding of database concepts, GIS, Photogrammetric processes and Cartographic standards.

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, or equivalent experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands

- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

- Frequent sitting and operating a computer.

- Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or office materials.

- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.

- Physical demands requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
