GIS Technician

Job Summary

The Senior GIS Specialist will lead high-impact GIS initiatives and drive the effective use of geospatial data to support strategic planning and organizational decision-making. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and executive-level stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, plan, and execute critical GIS initiatives across the organization.

- Ensure optimal utilization of geographic data for strategic planning and business decision-making.

- Develop and implement advanced GIS methodologies, tools, and best practices.

- Collaborate with senior leadership and top-tier stakeholders to define GIS project goals and deliverables.

- Mentor, train, and guide GIS team members to enhance skills and performance.

- Work closely with external GIS experts and consultants for specialized or complex projects.

- Ensure GIS strategies, solutions, and roadmaps are aligned with overall business objectives.

- Maintain data quality, integrity, and compliance with industry standards.

Required Skills & Expertise

- Expert-level proficiency with leading GIS software platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS, MapInfo).

- Strong analytical and geospatial modeling skills.

- Experience with remote sensing, spatial data analysis, and geodatabase management.

- Ability to communicate complex geospatial concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Strong leadership, project management, and team-mentoring experience.

- Familiarity with GIS scripting and automation (Python, ModelBuilder, SQL) is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
