Summary
Floorhand/Derrick hand works on the platform high up in the derrick of the workover rig. The position handles the uppermost section of the drilling string as it is brought from or lowered into the wellbore or drill hole. It also plays a lead role in stacking the drill pipe as it is tripped out or guiding the pipe as it is reconnected to the pipe string when tripping back into the hole.
- Perform all well servicing tasks from an elevated position (rod basket or tubing board)
- Perform services on oil and gas wells as part of a 3–5-person workover rig crew
- Picking up and laying down tubing
- Driving a crew truck when necessary
- Lifts, removes, installs, and operates well head pump, and jacks and performs other tasks as designated by the Rig Operator or company official
- Positions, lifts, attaches, installs, and works with matting boards, tubing, rods, casing, and associated well equipment, such as rod strippers, polish rods, etc.
- Operates rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, and other associated rig tools and equipment
- Report safety hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor
- Complete required work plans, job safety analysis, observations, and attend safety meetings as required
- Responsible for operating the mud system, mixing the mud, assisting the driller, and doing equipment upkeep
- Other duties may be assigned

- If hired, you must supply your own P.P.E. steel-toed boots
- All other safety equipment such as FR uniforms, hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves provided by the company
- Must have basic problem-solving and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to perform the essential functions in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
- Work schedule is Monday - Friday 7 am to 4 pm, working occasional Saturdays
- High school degree or GED
- Previous experience on workover rig preferred but not required
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Must have a valid driver's license, CDL class A or B (preferred)
