The

is responsible for maintaining and repairing Company tractors and trailers (“RT Equipment”) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs across multiple systems including diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical components. The Fleet Mechanic also completes preventative maintenance, maintains accurate service documentation in Fleetio, and supports a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability within the Towanda Yard.

- Perform thorough diagnostic tests and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components to maintain fleet performance and safety.

- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance services to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.

- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage and work performed, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

- Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards, including DOT and EPA requirements.

- Assist in managing inventory levels of spare parts and order replacements as needed to minimize downtime.

- Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to share knowledge and best practices.

- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide on-call support as necessary to keep the fleet operational.

Requirements

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.

- Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel, heavy equipment, or fleet maintenance preferred.

- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and fleet management systems (Fleetio experience preferred).

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and safety awareness.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

- Able to provide own basic mechanic tools.

- Maintain a valid driver's license that meets the Company’s insurance requirements.

- Be able to read, write, and speak English.

Physical Requirements

- Able to perform tasks outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and inclement weather.

- Able to wear proper PPE including but not limited to steel-toed boots, hard hat/bump cap, safety glasses, and appropriate gloves when necessary.

- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

- Be able to climb ladders, stairs and equipment.

- Be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch while performing a hand task.

- Be able to pull, push, and lift 50 pounds.
