Facilities Community Relations Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
KKCS is seeking three proactive and community-oriented Facilities Community Relations Specialists to support LAUSD’s Facilities Services Division. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between LAUSD and community stakeholders to inform and engage the public about school construction programs, initiatives, and events. The position is full-time, estimated as a 2-year contract, W2, and onsite in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategic community outreach plans for assigned projects.
• Engage with school administrators, elected officials, community leaders, and the public to support and promote LAUSD construction projects.
• Schedule and attend community meetings and events across the District.
• Educate the public on the school construction process, including site selection, CEQA/EPA compliance, acquisition, design, and construction.
• Prepare written reports and informational materials for presentations to the Board of Education, Bond Oversight Committee, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate planning committees and logistics for groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, and school openings.
• Maintain organized contact databases and project files.
• Provide information to internal and external groups regarding LAUSD’s procurement policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED Experience:
• At least 4 years of full-time professional experience in community outreach, campaign organization, or field work for public or community-based organizations.
• Experience managing multiple educational or public sector programs concurrently (preferred).
• Strong understanding of public relations principles and local government structures.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize and present information clearly and effectively.
• Experience working with diverse populations and stakeholder groups.
• Event coordination and budget monitoring.
• Ability to create and present promotional materials.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be willing to travel to project sites across the District.
Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, community relations, urban planning, business or public administration, or related field.
• Candidates without a degree may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis for up to two years.
