Skilled position responsible for technical field and administrative work in the construction, renovation, alteration, maintenance and repair within the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority's physical facilities. Work requires considerable judgment and is performed under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager.
(NOTE: There are also secondary functions, which the employee will be required to perform.)
Operates a variety of hand-held power tools, including but not limited to circular and reciprocating saws, drill/screw guns, chainsaws, electrical testing equipment and powder actuated tools.
Assists the Facilities Manager and contractors when planning projects including contract specifications and technical drawings.
Utilizes computer software such as Microsoft Office and facility specific platforms such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Building Automation Systems (BAS, or Building Management Systems (BMS). Must be able to communicate with staff, vendors and contractors as well as to generate bid specifications, reports, and equipment databases.
Assures work is performed in a safe manner and in compliance with FPUA's Safety Program.
Performs highly skilled tasks including analyzing electric powered gates, HVAC equipment, and electrical and mechanical equipment, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and automated building systems.
Communicates directly with contractors, department heads, employees, regulatory agencies, governmental agencies, and the general public orally or in writing, as needed.
Responds to emergencies and takes responsibility for proper remedial measures in situations involving unusual difficulty or danger.
Inspects contractual services for compliance with contract.
Supervises contractors on various projects including HVAC replacements, plumbing repairs, generator maintenance/repair, and overhead door and crane inspection/repair.
Schedules and maintains accurate records for the inspection and maintenance of the fire suppression equipment, fire alarm systems, cranes, and elevators for regulatory compliance.
Schedules, manages, and inspects the work of lawn and grounds maintenance, HVAC system repairs, electrical system repairs, CCTV and security systems and other related services.
Schedules, inspects and verifies the operation and maintenance of the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority’s building facilities, grounds and other similar type equipment/facilities.
Keeps time and material records and prepares accurate reports specific to the Facilities Department.
Recommends purchase/rental of needed equipment, materials, and supplies to meet present and future demands of planned projects.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma from an accredited institution. Minimum of seven years of recent progressively responsible experience relating to the construction renovation, alteration, maintenance and repair of physical facilities. Basic knowledge and advanced proficiency in computer operation and software applications such as Microsoft Office. Valid Florida Drivers License is required.

Must wear personal protective safety equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection devices, gloves, safety vests, and hard hats, and OSHA approved safety shoes.
May be required to work in adverse weather conditions to restore service to customers during emergencies.
