Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Geochemist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide guidance on geochemical data quality storage, assist with monitoring geochemical data quality, and ensure documentation of sampling techniques.

This position can be based out of Elko, NV; Reno, NV; Salt Lake Cit, UT; or Denver, CO.
- Facilitate geochemical surveys for the NA Exploration Group.
- Organize & communicate recommendations of geochemical orientation studies; drive & facilitate multi-element data interpretation; and support teams in evaluation and application of appropriate geochemical techniques.
- Integrate geochemistry into geological interpretations in North America in a way which enhances the team’s chances of discovery.
- Provide support for ore characterization and geochronology work.
- Encourage generative activities to identify giant deposits.
- Co-ordinate, disseminate and communicate key geochemical developments from the North America region to the global Barrick exploration team.
- Monitor progress of external geochemical research projects and apply relevant results to NA programs.
- Provide guidance on geochemical data quality storage, assist with monitoring geochemical data quality, and ensure documentation of sampling techniques.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and professional working environment for all employees, contractors and the public.
- Thesis based Master’s degree in Geology/Geochemistry, PhD required
- +5 years’ experience in geochemical field (preferably exploration) or Ph.D. required- Experience using GIS and 3d modeling software to work with large datasets (Leapfrog, IoGas, MapInfo or ArcGIS) required
- Knowledge and experience exploring for multiple deposit types and models required
- Experience working with geologists in a team environment preferred
- Effective time management skills, in order to prioritize and deal with numerous projects simultaneously required
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of safety leadership skills required
- QA/QC – Continually assess application of QA/QC measures for all sampling programs, including periodic review and updating of written sampling protocol for each site in North America
- DATABASE- provide guidance on geochemical data storage.
- FIELD SAMPLING – ensure appropriate documentation of field sampling techniques, including QA/QC protocol, sample media, sampling methods and chain-of-custody.
- GEOLOGICALLY BASED – ensure the use of geochemistry has proper geologic context through engagement with the project teams and Chief Geologist.
- GEOCHEMICAL DATA INTERPRETATION – drive and facilitate multi-element geochemical data interpretation, 3D geochemical modeling, and incorporate geochemical layers into project GIS.
- REMOTE GEOCHEMISTRY – support teams in evaluation and application of appropriate geochemical techniques in areas of thick post-mineral cover.
- NEW TECHNIQUES – communicate geochemical prospecting techniques / technologies not currently utilized by team members.
