Title: Electrical Engineer - Oil & Gas Construction
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in oil and gas construction to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, reviewing, and supporting the installation of electrical systems on industrial construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry codes, and project specifications. The ideal candidate has hands-on field experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

- Develop, review, and stamp electrical design packages including power distribution, grounding, lighting, controls, instrumentation, and motor control systems.
- Support construction activities by providing technical guidance, resolving field issues, and reviewing contractor submittals, drawings, and RFIs.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment such as MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, generators, and instrumentation systems.
- Ensure electrical work complies with NEC, IEEE, API, NFPA, and company-specific standards.
- Perform load calculations, arc flash analysis, and short-circuit/coordination studies.
- Work with project managers to prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Conduct site visits, punch lists, inspections, and quality assurance checks during construction.
- Collaborate with mechanical, civil, structural, and process teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Support procurement activities including technical evaluations of vendor packages and equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation, as-builts, and project records.
This is a full-time position, generally scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM; however, hours may vary depending on business needs. The role includes a combination of office-based design work and on-site field responsibilities. Travel to active construction sites is required as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT considered with relevant experience.
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction environments.- Must be able to meet site safety requirements, including PPE and training.
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, API RP standards, and hazardous area classifications (Class & Division or Zone).
- Experience with electrical design tools such as SKM, ETAP, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Proven field experience supporting construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Midstream or upstream construction projects (pipelines, compressor stations, terminals, gas plants, etc.).
- Control systems and instrumentation integration.
- Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and facility automation systems.
- Experience managing contractors or providing owner’s engineering support.
