The Electrical Engineer supports the design, analysis, and documentation of electrical power systems for power distribution, microgrid, and modular generation projects. This role reports directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering and supports the execution of electrical engineering standards, system designs, and construction deliverables across power distribution, microgrid, and modular generation projects.
Working under senior engineering leadership, this position contributes to engineering specifications, construction drawings, and system documentation required to safely and effectively deploy electrical infrastructure, while building foundational expertise in power systems engineering, generator integration, and constructible design documentation.
- Support the design of electrical power systems including generators, switchboards, switchgear, transformers, and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
- Assist with generator control system design and interconnection wiring between generation assets and power distribution equipment.
- Prepare and support development of construction drawings, including:
- - Cable tray plans and routing
- Grounding plans and details
- Site plans and equipment layouts
- Cable schedules and cable sizing
- Communication and network diagrams
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of:
- - Single-line diagrams
- Electrical schematics
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Contribute to technical specifications and engineering standards under senior engineer guidance.
- Review vendor submittals and assist with technical evaluations.
- Participate in FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC (NFPA 70), UL, IEEE, and project standards.
- Collaborate with designers, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or industrial electrical design.
- Working knowledge of three-phase AC power systems.
- Exposure to generators, electrical distribution equipment, and control systems.
- Familiarity with construction drawing development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience assisting with technical writing of specifications and standards.
- Familiarity with generator control systems and interconnection wiring.
- Exposure to ETAP or SKM Power Tools.
- Field, commissioning, or startup experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in TX, NM, WY, or CO, or actively working toward licensure.
- You are hands-on, practical, and understand how designs translate to the field.
- You take pride in producing clean, accurate, and buildable drawings.
- You work well within a structured engineering organization while being adaptable in fast-paced project environments.
- You approach problems methodically and communicate clearly with engineers, electricians, and project teams.
