We are seeking a qualified and safety-focused Electrical Commissioning Technician to support commissioning, testing, and start-up activities for a large-scale LNG export facility on the Gulf Coast. This role involves hands-on work to verify, energize, and ensure the safe operation of electrical systems across the plant, including both high-voltage and low-voltage infrastructure.
· Reports to the Electrical senior tech for planning and execution management support.
· Communicates with the Commissioning Electrical senior tech for technical support.
· Carries out Electrical commissioning execution work as directed by Electrical senior tech.
· Use of specialized tools and equipment to test the functionality of electrical systems e.g., electrical distribution networks, UPS and Battery systems, power generation and LV/HV motors.
· Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical systems including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, power distribution panels, lighting, grounding, and UPS systems.
· Conduct insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, breaker and relay testing, and cable meggering.
· Carry out the energization of electrical equipment in a safe and methodical manner.
· Operate electrical equipment in association with process and utility systems.
· Completion of commissioning scope B Check Sheets type ITRs
· Understanding of the Electrical LOTO Isolation procedure and apply electrical isolations if required.
· Capable of reading and understanding all relevant Electrical Documentation
· Compile punch list / outstanding work lists.
· The Electrical Commissioning technician shall be familiar with industrial permit to work systems.
· Working knowledge of Instrument and Control systems i.e., DCS/PLC
· Ability to read and follow electrical single line drawings, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings.
· Participate in all aspects of the safety program (e.g., safety meetings, ILP investigations, site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, etc.)
· Work within the PTW system, and issue permits as required.
· Compile punch list / outstanding work lists
· Journeyman ticket, technical diploma in required discipline.
· Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards and safety procedures
· Proficiency in using electrical tools and testing equipment.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS, Hexagon, WinPCS)
· NFPA 70E training and understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC).
· TWIC card, OSHA 10/30, and other safety certifications (e.g., arc flash, confined space) may be required.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work safely in live environments under supervision.
