•We are currently hiring several Electrical Commissioning Technicians to join our commissioning team for large-scale oil and gas projects across Alberta. This is a key role focused on the safe and efficient energization, testing, and turnover of electrical systems during the commissioning phase.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead the electrical commissioning activities including functional testing, equipment energization, and system verification
•Oversee and execute loop checks, Insulation Resistance (IR) testing, and acceptance testing on LV/MV equipment
•Review and interpret electrical drawings (single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, termination schedules, cable schedule)
•Support pre-commissioning, startup, and handover documentation
•Coordinate closely with QA/QC, commissioning and operations teams
•Ensure all work meets safety standards, regulatory compliance, and client specifications
•Maintain accurate records of testing and commissioning activities
•Work under LOTO / PTW with a high degree of diligence
Requirements:
•Journeyman Electrician (Red Seal)
•10+ years of electrical commissioning experience in oil & gas or heavy industrial settings
•Strong understanding of Switchgear, MCCs, Transformers, VFDs, and protection relays
•Experience with Megger testing, Hi-pot, continuity, and function tests
•Proven leadership on commissioning teams and ability to mentor junior technicians
•Valid driver’s license and current safety tickets (e.g., H2S Alive, CSTS, Arc Flash awareness)
Preferred Assets:
•Familiarity with commissioning software and completion management systems (e.g., Hexagon, MC Plus)
•Experience with hazardous area classification and intrinsically safe installations
