Lead by example while demonstrating a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by ensuring personal safety and as far as is reasonably practical that of others through participating in regularly scheduled safety meetings, site safety visits and safety conversations.
Technicians will perform the following tasks:
Connections from Switchgear to MCC
•Verify and test electrical connections between switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs).
•Confirm proper termination and labeling per engineering drawings.
5kV Control Wiring Connection
•Verify installation and integrity of 5kV control wiring.
•Conduct insulation resistance testing to ensure wiring integrity.
•Validate signal continuity and proper terminations.
Current Transformer (CT) Ratio Verification
•Perform CT ratio testing to confirm correct transformation ratios.
•Ensure polarity and phase matching with the protection system.
•Verify CT burden and secondary circuit integrity.
Induction Testing for Bus Systems
•Conduct induction testing to identify any insulation breakdown or faults.
•Verify busbar continuity and phase alignment.
•Ensure proper grounding of the system.
Torque and Tightening Verification on Hardware
•Verify torque settings on all bolted connections.
•Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
•Conduct visual inspections for any loose connections or potential failures.
Additional Responsibilities:
•Ability to work varying shifts and hours including: possible mandatory overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
•Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
•Ability to work respectively with others and work independently
•Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
•Ability to climb and work at elevations from (ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
•Ability to work in restricted spaces
•Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 75 pounds
•Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
•Must have reliable transportation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•Formal technical college training and education in Electrical Technology or formal apprenticeship programs.
•NCCER certified in Electrical Technology
•5+ years of Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning experience in a similar role.
•Experience working with multi-discipline teams.
•Highly experienced with various types and manufacturers of calibration equipment.
•Candidate should be a motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving ability.
•Excellent communication skills and team-oriented personality required to interface with Construction and Operations Teams.
•A detailed working knowledge of industrial facilities is required.
