Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven HVAC Commissioning Technician to take ownership of HVAC commissioning activities at a major LNG project in Texas. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end commissioning process of HVAC systems—ensuring compliance with design intent, operational performance, safety standards, and client expectations.
This position is ideal for a seasoned HVAC professional who brings strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of mechanical and control systems.
Duties
•Lead the HVAC commissioning efforts from pre-functional checks to final acceptance testing for a large-scale LNG facility
•Execute the commissioning plans, test procedures, and checklists in alignment with project specifications
•Interface with engineering, construction, controls, QC and client teams to align commissioning schedules and resolve issues proactively.
•Oversee functional performance testing of air and hydronic systems, including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, exhaust systems and refrigeration
•Maximise system uptime by diagnosing and resolving HVAC system performance issues
•Champion a strong safety culture and ensure team compliance with all safety protocols on-site.
•Perform technical start-up, commissioning, and testing by verifying control sequences, sensor calibration, airflow measurements, temperature controls, and electrical load testing.
•Undertake testing and validation of refrigerant systems and associated equipment, including refrigerant leak detection, pressure testing, charge verification, and integrity inspections.
•System adjustment and balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems to achieve desired operational specifications.
Skills
•5+ years of HVAC commissioning or mechanical systems startup experience.
•Previous experience working directly with general contractors, mechanical subcontractors, and engineering firms.
•Strong expertise in HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping systems, and BAS/DDC controls.
•Ability to lead commissioning planning, coordination, and hands-on execution independently.
•Proficient in reading construction documents, mechanical drawings, and control schematics.
•Experience working on projects such as data centers, healthcare, industrial facilities, or oil & gas infrastructure is highly desirable.
•Familiarity with commissioning software and digital test equipment.
•Excellent communication, team coordination, and documentation skills.
