About This Job


Job Duties

- Operation of the dragline and leading the crew.

- Follows the dragline dig plans and operating procedures. Can resolve issues without immediate supervision that may occur in the field of operation.

- Thorough understanding of dragline operations with problem-solving abilities that will enhance planning, prioritizing and completion of tasks.

- Can effectively communicate with others; including good pass-ons with other dragline operators, oilers, grounds persons, supervisors, leads, engineers, managers, and other equipment operators.

- Coordinate the dragline activities to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency.

- Capable of performing the duties of the dragline oiler, dragline grounds person, and assists in training of others.

- Required to walk the boom and work throughout the dragline without being susceptible to heights or motion sickness.

- Leads the team in a constructive manner that maximizes the resources available to achieve the operation's objectives.

- Assists supervisors in the development of other employees. Coaches employees to improve their effectiveness. Ability to motivate team members.


Qualifications/Expectations

- Must take a personal and active approach to health and safety. Works according to the company's safety standards, MSHA regulations, and all environmental regulatory requirements.

- Self-motivated and takes a strong leadership role in the work area as a resource to others.

- Interacts with supervisors, leads, engineering and managers to make sure their work compliments the overall objectives of the operation.

- Communicate effectively with others and provide information through clear, concise verbal and written communication that enhances planning, prioritizing, managing costs and completion of tasks.

- Consistently demonstrate positive behavior that supports the organization's goals and objectives.

- Commitment to safety, the environment, and continuous improvement. Actively seeks ways to improve the operations performance.

- Is highly flexible with the ability to adjust to the demands of the job and produce a consistent high quality of work.

- Can be depended on to complete assigned tasks and take on additional duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.

- Has a thorough knowledge of the mine's overall operations, with problem solving abilities, that enhances planning and prioritizing of daily activities.

- Mechanical background is beneficial, as well as knowledge of the machine, and capability to do rigging work.

- Must be able to work effectively as a member of a crew in a consistent manner.


Knowledge/Skills/Education

- Dragline Operation.

- Knowledge of federal and state mining laws.

- Must be able to satisfactorily complete company training programs.

- Prefer High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.


Preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

- Dragline operator experience.

- Previous dozer qualification including all dozer functions necessary to support dragline operations.

- Previous experience in the maintenance and care of heavy machinery.

- Dragline oiler experience.

- Dragline grounds person experience.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is required to continuously sit while frequently rotating and/or occasional forward bending. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee is required to rarely push with a force up to 100 pounds. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, but rarely required to operate controls at an elevated level. The employee is required frequently to walk; and stand with forward bending and/or occasional rotation. Occasionally the employee is required to kneel. The employ e is required to climb, including stairs or ladder; shovel, and crawl, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


- Working Environment: Works in site environments on rotating shifts with variable hours. Working outdoors in all weather conditions and working in the cab of equipment.
