Job Summary
Responsible for reviewing and approving equipment removal for maintenance on the AEP distribution system, stations, and sub-transmission as assigned; for coordination of these activities with the various departments of the Company involved; and notification to proper personnel regarding outages. Responsible for assisting in the supervision of personnel in carrying out the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the distribution system.
Job Description
What You'll do:
•Promote and enforce the Company's Safety and Health programs.
•Be knowledgeable and adhere to written company and department policy and procedures.
•Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance Policy.
•Responsible for coordinating the operation of the distribution system, restoration of service, prearranged switching for construction and/or maintenance, and for the safe and efficient real-time operation of the dispatching center
•Verify the accuracy of switching orders for the removal and restoration of distribution lines and station equipment as assigned ensuring that all safety and departmental policies are adhered to.
•Prepare switching orders listing the steps and safety tagging to be carried out for removing equipment from service for maintenance, repair or construction, ensuring the safety of the public, Company equipment, Company and contract personnelAssist in the supervision of employees and see that work is performed in accordance with established practices and procedures.
•Supervise the efficient restoration of service following emergency unplanned outages consistent with safe practices.
•Approve and coordinate facility outages, loadings and operating voltage levels with appropriate personnel in the distribution and transmission organizations.
•Direct and assist in the preparation of logs and other records to provide a clear history of operational activities.
•Notify appropriate designated personnel of abnormal and emergency conditions.
•Provide training and guidance to dispatching and field employees.
•Organize dispatching efforts during restoration events.
•Function as a lead position used at management discretion based on the business need.
What We're Looking For:
Education Requirements:
•Associate degree in electrical or electronic technology, Bachelor degree in any field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
•Minimum of 4 years of experience in Distribution Dispatching. Successful completion of the System Operations/Power Dispatch (SOPD) and Data Entry tests. Other Must Haves:
•Must maintain a high availability for callout response.
•Must be able to work under pressure during periods of critical system conditions and deal with diverse situations simultaneously.
•Critical decisions must be made affecting reliability and priority of service to customers.
•Failure to issue correct instructions could affect personnel safety, welfare of the general public, equipment damage, loss of revenue and adverse publicity.
•Must possess excellent organization skills.
•Must possess excellent communication skills.
•Must be able to resolve conflict and build team consensus.
•Ability to work with others for the development of the organization unit.
•Ability to lead dispatching shifts of multiple dispatchers in all aspects of switching, trouble dispatching, and system outage restoration activities.
•Assumes leadership responsibility for following safety codes, regulations and business standards.
•With approval from distribution management, a Distribution Dispatch Coordinator with at least two years of experience in the position can be promoted to a Distribution Dispatch Coordinator Sr. and receive a promotion/equity salary adjustment.

$96,110.00-124,940.00 USD
