NV Energy is seeking an experienced Director, Land Resources to lead business activity related to the acquisition of permits, real estate and rights-of-way needed for our electric and gas infrastructure, renewable projects, and major capital initiatives. This is a high‑impact leadership role shaping the future of energy in Nevada.
- Lead the Land Resources team located in northern and southern Nevada, including budgeting, strategy, talent development, and operational excellence
- Oversee the acquisition of land, rights‑of‑way, permits, and real estate needed for company projects
- Build strong partnerships with engineering, construction, legal, and project teams
- Develop and cultivate relationships with local, state, and federal agencies
- Ensure accurate and compliant maintenance of easements, deeds, permits, and other land records
- Serve as a senior advisor on land strategy, risk, permitting, and project execution
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, real estate, or related field and 10 plus years of right‑of‑way negotiation/acquisition experience
OR
- 14 years of equivalent experience in right‑of‑way negotiation/acquisition experience (if not possessing a bachelor's degree)
- Electric utility land requirements, electrical design basics and utility construction standards
- Real estate law, property management, eminent domain, appraisal theory, land planning
- General Acceptance Accounting Principles, budgeting, finance, and business processes
- Legally binding real estate documents (deeds, leases, easements, etc.)
- Negotiation, communication, presentations, and relationship‑building
- Decision‑making, issue resolution, time management, and organization
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Work Environment & Travel:
This position is a functional leader with no direct reports. General office environment. No physical demands. We are an office-first work environment due to the nature of our business, and this position requires working in-office. Travel about 25% to northern and southern Nevada depending on office location.
