Insight Analytical Solutions is seeking a Jr/Int Designer to join our Calgary team. This role is focused on the design and integration of electrical, mechanical, analyzer sample systems, analyzers and small scale PLC control systems for Oil & Gas and energy-focused on Analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will bring 2 to 8 years of experience in electrical, instrumentation design and analyzer focused, with a strong background in instrumentation, analyzers and detailed design deliverables.
- Draft electrical, mechanical and analytical design with scope across multiple concurrent analyzer projects
- Develop and review drafting deliverables including:
- P&ID
- Loop and wiring diagrams
- Cable schedules and termination drawings
- Sample system layouts
- 3-D layouts
- Coordinate with engineering, mechanical and electrical teams to ensure design alignment
- Integrate vendor-supplied equipment into project documentation
- Ensure compliance with CSA, ISA, API, IEC and client-specific standards
- Provide field support during construction and commissioning, including redlines and as-built documentation
- Participate in design reviews, resolving technical issues during design phases
- Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal standards
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Instrumentation Engineering Technology or post secondary design drafting diploma preferred from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in electrical and/or Instrumentation within Oil & Gas or industrial sectors- Proficiency in AutoCAD, formal training certificate(s) are an asset.
- Proficiency in Solidworks 3D, formal training certificate(s) are an asset.
- Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation devices, analyzers, electrical and mechanical design fundamentals
- Familiarity with industry standards, including CSA, ISA, API, and IEC
- Strong knowledge of control systems architecture, instrumentation/analyzers with electrical design principles
- Strong coordination skills for managing drawing packages and document control
- Experience with interface points, including PLC/DCS panels, marshalling cabinets, and control cabinets
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
