Central Electric Cooperative is seeking a skilled and forward‑thinking Cyber Security & Compliance Specialist to strengthen our cybersecurity posture and ensure the reliability of the systems that power our communities. The Cyber Security & Compliance Specialist plays a key role in safeguarding the Cooperative’s information systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting secure operations across on‑premise and cloud environments. You’ll work closely with IT, operations, and leadership to implement security controls, monitor threats, and maintain audit readiness.
· Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, replace, secure, and troubleshoot cybersecurity systems and software.
· Evaluate new and existing facilities, processes, and policies, integrating them into cybersecurity compliance and security programs.
· Monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
· Identify gaps in security processes and recommend improvements to tools, procedures, and workflows.
· Administer and monitor cybersecurity tools such as SIEM, MDR/EDR, and IDS/IPS for real‑time threat detection.
· Ensure adherence to CIS, NIST, and other relevant security frameworks.
· Maintain the Cooperative’s cybersecurity compliance obligations. Knowledge of (CIS, NIST, PCI)
· Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and cybersecurity audits across systems, networks, and applications.
· Analyze findings and coordinate remediation efforts with IT and operational teams.
· Secure cloud platforms and services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
· Monitor cloud activity for anomalies and potential threats.
· Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
· Maintain documentation and evidence for audit readiness and regulatory reporting.
· Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
· Five (5)+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
· Industry certifications preferred (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CEH, GSEC, CISM).
· Strong understanding of IT systems and the ability to install and manage security technologies.
· Experience with EDR/MDR platforms, SIEM solutions, Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems, Identity & Access Management, Cloud security best practices
