Job description:
About the role
The Coordinator – Warehouse & Distribution plays a critical execution-focused role in ensuring finished goods and raw materials are shipped safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the site shipping plan. Based at the Carseland Manufacturing Center, this position works daily with trucking companies, rail carriers, internal operations teams, and customer service to coordinate outbound and inbound shipments.
The role is heavily hands-on in SAP, with a strong emphasis on transportation execution, shipment planning, documentation, and issue resolution. While there is some interaction with inventory data, the primary accountability is logistics execution and carrier coordination, not inventory ownership.
- Execute daily outbound and inbound shipments in SAP in accordance with the approved shipping plan.
- Coordinate directly with trucking companies and rail carriers to schedule, confirm, and adjust shipments.
- Manage shipment bookings, load plans, bills of lading, rail documentation, and transport-related paperwork.
- Monitor shipment status, proactively identify delays or disruptions, and take corrective action to minimize impact.
- Act as the primary point of contact for carriers on day-to-day operational matters.
- Ensure all shipments comply with internal policies, customer requirements, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Support continuous improvement in logistics execution, freight utilization, and service reliability.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Sales teams to align shipping priorities.
- Communicate changes to the shipping plan and resolve short-term execution challenges.
- Support accurate and timely customer deliveries by ensuring execution aligns with demand commitments.
- Provide transactional support related to inventory management.
- Assist with basic inventory reconciliation and reporting as required.
- Support data accuracy in SAP related to shipping, freight, and inventory movements.
- Ensure transportation activities adhere to Orica safety standards, compliance requirements, and preferred carrier usage.
- Track and report on shipment execution metrics, service performance, and exceptions.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and compliance reviews.
Profile description:
What you will bring
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–4 years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, or supply chain execution.
- Hands-on experience executing shipments in SAP or a similar ERP system (strongly preferred).
- Experience working directly with trucking companies and/or rail carriers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Clear, confident communication skills for daily interaction with internal teams and external carriers.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or regulated environment is an asset.
- Ability to work onsite at the Carseland Manufacturing Center, full time.
- Demonstrates accountability, resilience, and flexibility in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Builds strong working relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Communicates clearly and proactively, especially when managing execution issues.
- Operates with integrity, safety awareness, and attention to detail.
- Manages multiple tasks independently while meeting deadlines.
