As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Controller to join our leadership team and help drive financial excellence across the organization.
Position Overview:
The Controller will oversee all financial and accounting activities of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to support operations with actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
•Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, job costing, and general ledger.
•Prepare interim and annual financial statements and reports.
•Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
•Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate project costing and financial reporting.
•Oversee WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and project profitability analysis.
•Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
•Coordinate with external auditors, insurance providers, and bonding companies.
•Implement and maintain financial systems, software, and reporting tools.
•Support executive leadership with financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
•Manage and mentor accounting and administrative staff.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
•7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry (heavy civil experience highly preferred).
•Strong knowledge of construction-specific accounting practices, including percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and job cost accounting.
•Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Experience with WIP reporting, bonded projects, and certified payroll reporting.
•Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
