GENERAL SUMMARY
The Corporate Controller position is responsible for developing, supervising, monitoring, and/or performing the activities of Petrobras America Inc (“PAI’ or “the company”) related to accounting, tax, and financial reporting, in accordance with Petrobras and PAI policy and procedures, aiming to achieve the objectives defined in the company’s business plan in accordance with the guidelines determined by the Board of PAI in alignment with Petrobras strategic plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Supervise and oversee the daily accounting activities and the preparation, review, analysis of PAI financial reports in compliance with Petrobras Accounting Policy and IFRS in effect through monthly closing procedures and by monitoring all customers involved (Petrobras Headquarters, managements, audits, etc.) to ensure timely completion with accuracy and completeness;
•Coordinate with PAI external auditors to complete the annual audit of PAI stand-alone financial statements;
•Review or prepare various financial reports and analysis in response to inquiries from all internal and external customers (Petrobras Headquarters, management, audits, clients, etc.);
•To ensure alignment with financial controls established by Petrobras Headquarters by monitoring all parties involved (headquarters, suppliers, customers, audits, employees, etc.);
•To assure the account receivables from oil trading sales for Petrobras are collected by monitoring the outstanding balances of clients and suppliers, and enforcing the terms in credit support documentation and other physical agreements; in addition, by setting guidelines for in-house review of specific credit terms and conditions;
•Effectively manage company’s accounts receivable/payable processes to ensure proper accounting standards are applied.
•Coordinate with Petrobras management to ensure that the Company’s businesses goals are achieved under a conservative and efficient tax environment, according to the Tax Planning processes defined by the Petrobras Business Plan;
•Monitor and review the tax execution process to ensure the Company’s tax obligations are rigorously complied with;
•Contribute with the process of development and execution of company’s business plan and monitor the continuous process of company budget, outlook, and evaluation of company performance in alignment with Petrobras strategic plan;
•Supervise or perform accounting and tax research to ensure compliance. Develop and supervise the implementation of necessary new accounting and tax procedures and improvements to existing internal control processes and procedures;
•To ensure activities under the scope of this position comply with the local legislation and the Petrobras HSE policies and guidelines;
•Must abide by all HSE policies and guidelines;
•Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to operate
•a computer with the following software: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Lotus Notes, SAP S4 Hana and other proprietary softwares
Written and verbal fluency in
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, accounting procedures, and legal documents; to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as cost benefit studies and financial analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS), corporate tax laws, and regulations.
Knowledge of upstream and downstream operations and treasury and credit functions.
Ability to multi-task, function as both a both big-picture and detail oriented contributor.
Minimum 10 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or related fields
EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required;
MBA is desirable
CPA is mandatory
