The APS Controller will be a strategic and hands-on financial leader responsible for managing the full accounting function, overseeing internal controls, reporting, and financial planning. This role will be instrumental in supporting Atlantic Pipe Services through periods of growth, including process improvement, acquisition integration, and operational scaling. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in construction accounting with a focus on WIP costing, job costing, and ERP optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
•Lead all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance
•Manage and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and job costing to ensure accurate revenue recognition and project forecasting
•Oversee timely month-end and year-end close processes and ensure GAAP compliance
•Maintain a strong internal control environment and support audit readiness
Strategic Finance & Business Support
•Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, margin analysis, and cash flow management
•Prepare timely and accurate internal financial statements and dashboards for executive leadership
•Support financial system enhancements and automation initiatives, especially within Vista by Viewpoint or other ERP platforms
M&A and Integration Support
•Support the due diligence process for acquisitions, including financial analysis and risk assessment
•Lead the financial integration of acquired companies, including setup of chart of accounts, WIP/job costing processes, and system alignment
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition and synergy realization
Supervisory Responsibilities
•Manage and mentor members of the accounting team, including AP, AR, payroll, and staff accountants
•Oversee day-to-day activities and ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on time
•Provide performance feedback, support career development, and assist in hiring and training new team members
•Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven team culture
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred but not required
•Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
•Strong experience in construction accounting, specifically WIP costing, job costing, and revenue recognition under the percentage-of-completion method
•Experience with acquisitions and post-merger financial integration
•Proficiency in ERP systems such as Vista by Viewpoint or similar platforms
•Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
•Experience in the construction or industrial services sector preferred
