The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Power Generation is the key executive responsible for driving the company's technological vision, strategy, vision and leadership across all power-generation assets, technologies, and innovation initiatives. This role is responsible for setting the technology roadmap, ensuring operational excellence, guiding modernization programs, and driving competitive advantage through advanced engineering, digitalization, and energy-transition strategies ensuring that technology initiatives align with business goals, support innovation, scalability and operational efficiency. The CTO leads the engineering and IT teams, manages technology budgets, evaluates and implements new systems, and stays ahead of industry trends to maintain competitive advantage. As a strategic partner to the executive leadership team, the CTO plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s growth, digital transformation, and long-term success.
- Directs the strategic design, acquisition, management, and implementation of an enterprise-wide technology infrastructure.
- Monitors and analyzes technology and trends that could improve the company's products and performance.
- Guide capital planning from a technology perspective, including lifecycle management, modernization, and asset-replacement decisions.
- Own the technical integrity of generation assets across their full lifecycle.
- Chair technical review boards and major project gate reviews.
- Develop and execute the company’s overall technology strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative technology solutions and products for the executive team and ensure alignment across the organization.
- Oversee the company’s technology infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
- Manage and mentor engineering, IT, and technical operations teams to promote high performance and collaboration.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic planning, digital transformation, and organizational growth.
- Establish and monitor technology budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data security, privacy regulations, and technology standards.
- Build and maintain vendor, partner, and stakeholder relationships to support the company’s technology ecosystem to investors, regulators and the public.
- Communicate technology vision and initiatives clearly across departments and to stakeholders, including the board of directors.
- All other duties assigned.- Graduate Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Technology Management, or an advanced degree in a related field from an accredited university.
- 15+ years experience in technology leadership roles, including software development, IT operations, or systems engineering.
- 5 years experience in executive or senior leadership roles.
- 2 years Mesa experience.
- Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred.
- Mastery of corporate strategy, governance, and global business environments to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Deep understanding of financial markets, investor expectations, and economic trends to inform strategic technology investments.
- Knowledge of legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks impacting technology, data privacy, cybersecurity, and corporate operations.
- Awareness of emerging technology trends, innovation landscapes, and competitive dynamics.
