We’re looking for an accomplished Vice President of Finance to serve as the financial backbone of a fast-growing, private equity–backed veterinary/medical hospital group. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely oversight position, ideal for someone who can produce the work themselves while laying the foundation for future scale.
The VP will lead the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and process optimization, serving as a key bridge between daily operations, executive leadership, and the investors. As the company scales toward $1B, you’ll be instrumental in building the finance infrastructure, modernizing systems, improving accuracy, and shaping best practices across the organization.
- Oversee all aspects of accounting, reporting, and controls, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, policies, and procedures to support multi-entity, multi-state growth.
- Serve as the key finance liaison to the CEO, PE sponsor, and lenders — preparing monthly reporting packages, KPIs, and board materials.
- Direct and participate in all aspects of the month-end close, consolidations, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Manage general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and fixed assets, ensuring GAAP compliance and internal consistency.
- Implement automation and system improvements to increase speed and accuracy of reporting.
- Support due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-close integration of new acquisitions.
- Standardize chart of accounts, financial policies, and systems across newly acquired entities.
- Partner with operations and HR to align financial processes with front-line clinic activity.
- Oversee daily cash management, forecasting, and working capital optimization.
- Manage vendor relationships and approval workflows for disbursements and payments.
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants, credit agreements, and investor reporting requirements.
- Lead implementation or upgrade of ERP and reporting tools (NetSuite, Intacct, etc.) as the business scales.
- Establish key performance dashboards and data integrity checks across entities.
- Build the accounting/finance organization progressively as the company grows.
- 10–20 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including prior Corporate Controller or Director of Accounting role in a PE-backed healthcare, veterinary, or multi-site services environment.
- Deep, hands-on technical accounting experience with multi-entity consolidations, revenue recognition, and acquisition accounting.
- Proven ability to thrive in a lean, high-growth environment where rolling up your sleeves is the norm.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness.
- Skilled in ERP implementation and process optimization; experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
- CPA required; MBA or Big 4 background strongly preferred.
- Experience reporting to or working directly with private equity investors or lenders.
- Hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable being both the doer and the leader.
- Operates with precision and urgency, loves to close the books, find efficiencies, and build structure from the ground up.
- Can communicate clearly and credibly with the C-suite, investors, and operating teams alike.
- Excited by growth, change, and the challenge of scaling from $200M to $1B+.- Competitive base salary
- Annual performance bonus
- Equity participation / LTIP opportunity
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
