As a Buyer, you will oversee the strategic sourcing and procurement of materials, parts, and services essential to the repair and maintenance of turbomachinery. Your responsibilities include developing and qualifying supplier relationships, driving competitive quoting processes, negotiating pricing and contractual terms, and purchasing products for internal use or resale—all while ensuring alignment with technical requirements, budget targets, and project timelines.
- Process purchase requests, obtain competitive supplier quotes, and issue purchase orders for materials, components, and services supporting turbomachinery repair, maintenance, and related projects.
- Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers based on capability, quality, cost, delivery performance, and alignment with technical specifications.
- Cultivate and manage strong supplier relationships, including establishing credit terms, monitoring performance, and addressing issues related to cost, quality, and delivery.
- Research and source required items, including verification of availability, lead times, specifications, and viable substitutions; maintain historical purchasing and job-cost data to support Sales and Operations.
- Support Sales by providing accurate material costing during bid preparation and assisting with procurement-related inputs for customer quotes.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that balance cost optimization with quality and operational reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers; conduct cost analyses and implement cost-reduction or value-improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate closely with Quality to ensure purchased materials and components meet technical and compliance standards; promptly resolve supplier quality issues.
- Expedite purchase orders and collaborate with Logistics, Operations, Planners, and Supervisors to ensure timely delivery of materials for job completion.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock and support efficient supply chain throughput.
- Communicate delivery schedules, changes, and supplier updates to internal stakeholders to support project planning and on-time execution.
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or another related field is preferred.
- Basic technical and mechanical acumen to support the understanding of turbomachinery components and material.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical mindset with a focus on cost optimization and efficiency
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic repair and maintenance environment
- Ability to elaborate strategy and tactics to propose Frame Agreements with major suppliers
- Familiar with general Supply Chain Terms & Conditions and Incoterms
