The Company is seeking a highly experienced Controller to lead the financial and accounting operations of the business. This role is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and managing the full back-office function. The Controller will partner closely with the President of Operations and VP of Finance to drive financial performance, strengthen controls, and support strategic initiatives.

- Provide executive-level financial reporting and analysis to the President of Operations, VP of Finance, and operational leadership, delivering actionable insights on revenue, project costs, margins, indirect costs, SG&A, and variances.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Exercise judgment over revenue recognition, estimates, and reserves across a variety of contract types, including fixed-price and variable-price contracts.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, forecasts, and key performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX requirements, partnering with corporate finance as needed.
- Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Prepare and analyze rolling forecasts, including revenue, margin, indirect cost, SG&A, and capital expenditure projections.
- Actively participate in senior leadership discussions related to pricing, bids and proposals, capital investments, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Provide financial modeling and decision support for new projects, contract negotiations, and capital allocation decisions.
- Oversee and manage the back-office functions, including:
- - Payroll administration and compliance
- Accounts Payable (AP) processing and vendor management
- Accounts Receivable (AR) billing, collections, and cash application
- Manage working capital with a strong focus on timely billing, cash collections, and accurate job cost reporting.
- Establish, document, and improve back-office processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary liaison with shared services or corporate teams related to payroll, AP, AR, and accounting support.
- Directly manage and develop back-office and front-office personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the administrative and finance teams.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, supporting professional development and succession planning.
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, job cost accounting, and cash management.
- Assess existing processes and controls, implementing improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of findings.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, contractual, and corporate requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- CPA license strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role.
- Construction, infrastructure, or project-based accounting experience preferred, including percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Experience working within a multi-entity or corporate structure; familiarity with SOX controls and public-company-level reporting a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for operational leaders.
- Proven leadership ability with experience managing teams across accounting and administrative functions.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP and job cost systems.
