Job Opportunity: BGS Canada- Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager will lead and manage all HR functions across BGS Canada, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial employment laws, developing and implementing HR policies, and supporting a strong, values-driven company culture.
You will work collaboratively with our leadership team across Barr Geospatial Solutions, Forsite Consultants Ltd., and Airborne Imaging Inc. to align HR strategies with organizational goals. This is a key leadership role that oversees employee engagement, workforce planning, HR operations, and performance management. Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational design.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial employment laws and company policies.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks for Canadian operations.
- Oversee employee benefits administration, policy reporting, claims resolution, and annual reviews.
- Assess HR-related risks and recommend proactive solutions.
- Promote and enforce workplace health and safety standards.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing workplace standards and procedures.
- Lead strategic workforce planning to ensure the right talent is in place to meet current and future business needs.
- Manage recruitment cycle for permanent and seasonal employees.
- Oversee onboarding programs to support a seamless new hire experience.
- Champion appropriate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts that foster an inclusive and innovative culture.
- Partner with Leadership to set and communicate job expectations through performance evaluations and Professional Development Plans.
- Implement initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and morale, supporting a high-performance culture across the organization.
- Coordinate and oversee training and development programs aligned with employee development plans and organizational needs.
- Provide leadership to the BGS Canadian HR team, monitoring productivity, quality, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Analyze departmental action plans and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and track key metrics (KPI’s) to support HR initiatives and support business growth.
- Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies and initiatives aligned with BGS’s overall strategic objectives.
- Facilitate surveys to inform leadership on wages and benefit competitiveness.
- Lead BGS Canada HR team in the delivery of initiatives and business support
- Contribute to change management efforts, ensuring smooth integration of new processes, systems, and organizational changes.
- Establish and report on key HR metrics to measure progress against workforce and business goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with organizational priorities.

- Bachelor's degree or MBA in business, HR, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience; ideally within consulting or natural resources/infrastructure sectors.- HR professional certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI, CPHR) is preferred.
- Experience with HRIS implementation is an asset.

- Analytical & Problem-Solving – Skilled in critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and applying data-driven insights to HR and organizational challenges.
- Detail Orientation & Compliance – Meticulous attention to detail in documentation, record-keeping, and policy enforcement, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal employment regulations.
- Strategic HR Expertise – Knowledge of human resources best practices, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, and compensation/benefits administration.
- Innovation & Adaptability – Ability to think creatively and adapt HR strategies to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Primarily office-based with regular computer use for communication, analysis, and documentation.
- Frequent interaction with internal stakeholders across skill levels.
- Occasional travel for team meetings, recruitment, training, and site visits.
- Must be able to occasionally lift/move items up to 40 lbs.
