The Canadian Red Cross youth leader instructor helps to facilitate our two Youth safety programs, Babysitting and Stay Safe. Experience working with kids is a must. Reliable transportation required for offsite classes. Must be comfortable facilitating a full day on their own (within safety requirements, after training is completed).
This is a casual position of a few days a month - weekends, no school Fridays, and school holidays.
Current standard first aid certification is a prerequisite to becoming a youth leader. Must be able to perform all standard first aid level skills without prompting (skills check will be required).
Rcmp check required.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must be local to Fort McMurray to be considered, there is no travel allowance provided.
Responsibilities:- commit to classes at least 4 weeks in advance
- prepare lesson plans, set up classroom, greet and sign in participants
- teach programs according to Red Cross standards
- supervision of youth at all times
- clean equipment and reset classroom
- complete administrative paperwork
- communicate with parents as required before/during/after course
