Yard Worker I

DUTIES: Under supervision of Inventory Control Coordinator and the Finance Manager; perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks and fill-in for other people within the department, and cover breaks and lunch periods of Dispatcher as needed.

Load, unload, stack, and store materials and supplies arriving at PMLP storage areas; perform housekeeping and janitorial duties in all buildings and yard areas; clean and wash vehicles. May perform labor tasks such as digging holes or trenches, cleaning and moving scrap material, and moving heavy objects.

Fills-in for Dispatcher, Storekeeper and Building Custodian.

Enter and retrieve data relative to the purchasing and stores functions of PMLP and perform various other clerical duties.

Deliver and pick up materials as required.

Perform unskilled repair duties on equipment, traffic signals, streets, and other situations in an emergency. Maintain fuel levels of vehicles and equipment (lawnmowers, weed whackers, snow blowers) as required.

Operate fork trucks, hand trucks, and overhead cranes.

May assist Mechanical Handyperson and/or Truck/Auto Technician in mechanical and electrical repairs.

Operate snowplow, snow blower, lawnmower, weed whacker, shovel, broom and related equipment to effectively maintain PMLP property during storm and normal conditions. Operate water pump unit to remove excess water from storage sites as required.

Measure and monitor levels of fuel storage tanks.

Assist with spill clean-up duties as directed. Conduct inspections, move materials, and observe storage sites at Warren St. Ext. premises (which are under the control of the Finance Division), per PMLP environmental management system requirements.

Shall be required to work overtime as needed.

Perform related duties as required, including, but not limited to participation at training sessions and other related educational curricula. It is understood that the adoption of newer technologies does not constitute a change to job duties.
