Essential Functions:
Direct and coordinate department activities to ensure quality and meet timetables
•Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures
•Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems
•Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.
•Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints or grievances.
•Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
•Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews
•Team development through encouragement and building of mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members
•Responsible for scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees and shift rotation
•Schedule and conduct team meetings
•Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals
•Communicate with other supervisors and managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
•Interpret specifications, job orders and company policies and procedures for workers
•Read and analyze production schedules and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
•Observe workers to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
•Inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
•Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules
•Ability of operate the dry plant and wet plant.
•Manage necessary safety documentation
•May drive a pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle in the plant and/or to pick-up parts from local vendors
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Specification (knowledge, skills and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job):
Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
•Knowledge of mining and plant processes and procedures.
•Management of personnel resources including motivating, developing and directing people as they work
•Instructing others how to do things
•Monitor and assess performance of yourself and others to make improvements or take corrective action
Supervisory Responsibility:
•This job is responsible for supervising the work of the Float, Dry and Wet Plant Operators, Dry and Wet Plant Utilities, Press Operator, Dry Plant Loader Operator, Wet Plant Heavy Equipment Operator, and Wet Plant Haul Truck Driver.
•Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
•High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
•Supervisory training is helpful but not required
Certifications:
Required Experience:
•Extensive experience in a mining facility is necessary
