Position Summary: The Plant Operations Manager will oversee the execution of capital expenditure (CapEx) projects and the daily operations of the WRR plant, with a strong focus on efficiency, reliability, and strict adherence to safety protocols. This role is instrumental in achieving operational objectives while allowing the General Manager to focus on strategic planning, commercial development, and expansion initiatives. The Plant Operations Manager position consolidates the responsibilities of five key roles: RNG Manager, Digester Manager, Construction Manager, Operations Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage daily plant operations across receiving, digestion, gas upgrading, logistics, and depackaging to ensure safe and efficient performance.
•Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective and preventive measures as needed.
•Optimize processes to meet or exceed production targets while minimizing downtime and waste.
•Implement and monitor adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
•Provide regular training and feedback to employees to maintain high safety standards.
•Ensure compliance with Opal’s safety values and standards.
•Oversee maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
•Implement predictive maintenance programs.
•Deploy and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maintain accurate records of equipment and hours.
•Develop and execute a spare parts strategy to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
•Oversee the execution and delivery of construction-related capital projects, including new infrastructure such as depackaging facilities and digester installations.
•Coordinate construction schedules, contractor activities, and safety compliance.
•Ensure the execution of the feedstock plan to achieve daily volumes and proper mix.
•Improve the efficiency of the receiving process and maintain high feedstock quality standards.
•Facilitate employee training programs and provide mentorship to enhance skills and efficiency.
•Monitor performance, provide feedback, and track personal objectives among team members.
•Prepare operational reports for review by senior management.
•Monitor operational costs and ensure adherence to budgets.
•Identify areas for operational improvement and implement Kaizen events.
Qualifications & Skills:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automation).
•Minimum of 10 years in project management, including projects with budgets exceeding $1 million.
•Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA standards.
•Experience leading teams of engineers and technicians.
•Knowledge of systems and equipment maintenance, particularly related to automation and process control.
•Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday; standard business hours, must be able to work extended hours as required based on business demands.
