Plants Supervisor – Job Description

P&K Stone, LLC offers high quality crushed stone, manufactured sand and recycled concrete. Our aggregate materials are used in a wide range of construction aggregate applications including infrastructure projects, commercial projects and residential projects.
The Role: Reporting directly to the Plants Manager, this position is based at P&K Stone LLC’s Denton Recycling operation, located in Denton, TX. The Supervisor shall assist the Plants Manager in leading day-to-day activities in all phases of the process to include leading and managing all safety efforts, site planning/development, quality control and maintenance functions in our fixed plant operations and traveling contract crushing group.
What You’ll Do:
•Promote Safety- Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all P&K Stone policies and procedures and MSHA Regulations.
•Organize and Plan Production- Plan the daily operation scheduling of production to ensure optimal utilization of plant and pit equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures regarding processing, stockpiling, loading and shipping of raw and finished materials. Responsible for all aspects of the process and maintenance of the plant.
•Employee Relations- Provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision to all employees to support the operational function of the business. Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate the performance of employees to develop talent.
•Monitor Processes and Materials- Analyze production and quality control to ensure a quality product is received by our customers.
•Develop Key Performance Indicator Reports- Daily KPI Reports shall be developed to ensure plant performance is optimal by analyzing metrics and subsequently develop best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, and re-handling.
•Ensure Economic Profit. Maintain responsibility for managing the plant's financial decisions, including budgets, forecasts, inventory management, and labor and capital planning. Ensure adherence to all budgets and financial goals. Identify improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency across the plant.
•Maintenance- Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program to limit work stoppages, downtime, or other disruptions in plant equipment and rolling stock. The Manager shall also inspect equipment and oversee repairs, assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of plant and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruption to process.
•Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering (preferably Mining, Civil, or Mechanical), Mining Technology or related discipline or equivalent experience required.
•In depth knowledge of concrete recycling or aggregates production and associated equipment and processes.
•At least 5 years of aggregates experience, including prior production management experience at a comparably sized operation is preferred.
Knowledge Required
•Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
•Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock mining or concrete recycling, MSHA regulations, and quality control systems and processes.
•Mechanical Knowledge. Candidate must be mechanically inclined and must demonstrate the ability to read and understand plant drawings and schematics. Additionally, the candidate must also demonstrate an understanding of Equipment Wear Schedules.
•Experience with inventory control, inventory measures and customer service is required.
•Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
•Working Conditions. Role operates in a outdoor environment. Candidate must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noise between 85dba – 105dba.
•Knowledge of PM procedures with Heavy Equipment
•Strong track record of leading safety and health, as well as regulatory compliance
•Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Teams, Word, etc.)
