Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Hand to oversee and coordinate manufacturing and construction operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of various fabrication and assembly processes. This role is vital in ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the shop floor, guiding team members, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Supervise daily production activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely
- Lead and mentor team members in fabrication, assembly, and maintenance tasks
- Oversee rigging operations and ensure proper handling of heavy equipment and materials
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs
- Operate welding processes including MIG, SMAW and plasma cutting to fabricate components
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for manufacturing projects
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments for assembly and fabrication
- Manage the operation of cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols related to ductwork, construction, machining, and welding activities
- Coordinate with teams to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards
- Proven experience in manufacturing or construction environments with a focus on assembly or fabrication
- Strong background in welding techniques including MIG (MCAW, GMAW & FCAW) and SMAW welding
- Mechanical knowledge of machinery such as press brakes, plasma cutters, cranes, and forklifts
- Ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other precision measurement devices
- Familiarity with rigging procedures and basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations
- Experience working with ductwork or similar structural components is a plus
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory; leadership qualities are highly valued
