Northeastern Rural Electric Membership Corporation is a community- focused, member-owned cooperative that provides electric power to over 30,000 households and businesses in Northeastern Indiana. We are a distribution utility that purchases power from Morgan Stanley Capital Group. Northeastern REMC is governed by a board of directors elected by members in different voting districts. Our Member Co-op serves residential, commercial, and industrial accounts.
This role is an on-site summer internship for a Video & Communications Intern based in Columbia City, Indiana. In this position you’ll receive strong mentorship as you focus on supporting internal and external communications through video production, editing, and motion graphics, with an emphasis on internal communications, training support, and strategic storytelling.
The incumbent in this role will collaborate closely with professionals on the Marketing & Communications team, the Instructional Design and Training team, and external creative vendors to help produce clear, engaging video content that supports organizational initiatives, employee understanding, and member education.
This position will offer the opportunity to apply creative skills in a professional environment, working on meaningful video projects that have visibility and impact and support real organizational initiatives. You’ll grow your portfolio and gain hands-on experience in video production, editing, motion graphics, and live video environments, and will learn how video is used to support change, education, and engagement in a complex organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with video production for internal communications, training content, and member-facing initiatives
- Edit short- and long-form video content for internal use, social platforms, and the website
- Support motion graphics and animated elements using Adobe After Effects
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure video content aligns with brand standards and messaging goals
- Work with the Instructional Design and Training team to help translate complex topics into clear, engaging video-based learning content
- Assist with preparing assets, revisions, and deliverables for projects involving external video vendors
- Help organize and manage video files, footage libraries, and project assets
- Support occasional video capture at events, meetings, or field locations
- Contribute ideas for improving video storytelling, pacing, and visual clarity
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Junior or senior standing in college
- Degree focused on video production, film, media arts, digital media, or a related field
- Must provide a portfolio demonstrating video editing and production work
- Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience with Adobe After Effects
- Experience with professional or prosumer video camera
- Familiarity with live or multi-camera video setups
- Video editing and post-production workflows
- Motion graphics and animation fundamentals
- Experience with external video monitors or recorders (e.g., Atomos)
- Understanding of basic lighting setups and audio capture
- Familiarity with live video or streaming environments
- Comfort working with different camera formats, codecs, and frame rates
- Ability to manage media files and storage efficiently
- Detail-oriented with an eye for pacing, clarity, and visual consistency
- Comfortable receiving and applying feedback
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and subject matter
- Able to work independently while collaborating with a team
This is a full-time, on-site internship, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work will primarily take place in the office, with occasional field or event support as needed.
