What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Communication Engineering Intern to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a Communication Engineering Intern, you will help facilitate improvements to GIS Map data and integrity. Communication Engineering Interns will also learn the GVEC design process, gaining an understanding of how to design FTTX effectively and efficiently in both underground and aerial settings. Lastly, a Communication Engineering Intern will learn the deliverables process, showing how to create, edit and issue required items for construction.

Your Pay

The minimum starting pay for this role is $20.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.

How You’ll Help

- Create deliverables for Construction Contractors

- Edit existing Fiber assets in GIS

- Edit topology of existing service areas

- Gain an understanding of GVEC engineering design philosophies to support multiple projects

Experience/Skills You’ll Need

- Understanding of GIS applications, including but not limited to ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro

- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and confidently

- Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, capable of troubleshooting minor issues independently

- Self-motivation, a strong work ethic and impeccable integrity

- A team player open to constructive criticism to help evolve the team

Preferred Experience/Skills

- Understanding of the Construction process and working with Contractors

- Creating design work prints in GIS

- CrescentLink Fiber Manager
