Utility Worker II

C&D Scrap Metals – Houston, TX Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time Expected Hours: 38 – 45 hours per week

About the Role

C&D Scrap Metals is seeking a hardworking and reliable Utility Worker to join our operations team. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting both the scrap yard and warehouse operations, making it a cross-functional role with diverse responsibilities. The Utility Worker helps with receiving and processing metals, operating equipment, and assisting across departments to ensure smooth and safe daily operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Follow directions from the General Manager to support yard and warehouse operations.

- Assist in receiving, unloading, and processing customer materials.

- Sort, clean, and prepare metals for sale and distribution.

- Operate a forklift safely.

- Support baling operations and general equipment use.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization across yard and warehouse work areas.

- Deliver excellent customer service by providing assistance and representing the company in a professional manner.

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements

- Full-time

- Some travel to additional job sites may be required depending on operational needs.

Position Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

- Strong physical stamina, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Must be safety-minded and capable of following procedures.

- Forklift Experience & Certification required

- A Plus if you have Light Equipment Experience such as on a Sierra P26. Must be open to training on light equipment machinery as needed.

- A Plus if you have Recycling Background Experience
