Underground Utility Worker

Job Description - Hourly Position

The essential functions of this position are

- Operate mining equipment consistent with task training and operational necessities of the mine

- Assist in maintenance activities consistent with training and the needs of the mine

- Set floor to roof supports

- Build or hang ventilation controls

- Hang and handle power cables

- Lay rail

- Rock Dust

- Shovel and cleanup spillage

- Load and unload supplies and handle materials

- Mine drainage including pumping and ditching

- Assist in power moves

- Assist in belt moves, installation and repair

- Watch out for the safety of self and co-workers

- Perform all required pre-operational checks before operating equipment

The marginal activities of this position are

- Perform any other assigned tasks for which he or she is qualified by virtue of training or experience

Work Schedule

- 8 hour shift + hot seat

- Rotating shifts

- Monday through Friday, occasional Saturday

- Overtime - as required, and/or voluntary

License/Certification

- WV Miner's Card - Black Hat (Required)

Physical Requirements

- Operate equipment in a safe efficient manner

- Use various hand tools

- Lift, carry, push, pull - tools, materials and supplies 50 - 100 lbs. regularly.

- Walk, bend, climb, reach, crawl as necessary

- Work Closely with others in a team environment
